Just having a moment

The journey is half the fun…

Everything Is Not Alright!

Everything Is Not Alright!

Lately when asked how I’m doing, I take a deep breath, put on a smile, and say “I’m fine”. When what I really feel is an indescribable amount of anger, fear, and sadness.

Monday Trump welcomed into the the White House, a.k.a. the People’s House, El Salvador’s dictator president, Nayib Bukele. I’m not unjustly giving him that moniker, he proudly calls himself “the worlds coolest dictator.” Trump has formed a brutal alliance with ICE, Homeland Security, and Bukele to illegally kidnapped and imprison over 200 immigrants in El Salvador’s notoriously brutal prisons, reminiscent of concentration camps. In a hot mic moment Trump is heard asking Bukele to build 5 more of those camps so we can send you more of our people.

During the televised meeting in the Oval Office, Trump with the support of his (not the people’s) Attorney General Pam Bondi, and his White Nationalist Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, announced that they would not obey the order by the highest court in the land, the Supreme Court. In a 9-0 ruling the justices ordered the Trump administration to return Abrego García who even the administration admits was mistakenly sent to the El Salvadorian concentration camp. I want to make something very clear here, it is 100% against the constitution to have deported ALL the people to El Salvador WITHOUT due process.

When the rule of law has no power or standing, we have lost our constitutional democracy. But the masses seem to be moving forward as if it’s business as usual.

Yesterday as I went about my day… choir practice, dance class, and drinks with friends to celebrate someone’s new job, I acted like everything was normal, but that’s not how I felt. The best way I can describe it is with a movie metaphor. You know those scenes where a character is standing still while the world, in a blur, moves quickly around them? That’s me.

I’ve taken to to heart those who have told me I’m being too emotional and I’m too invested. I’ve heard those who’ve said, for your own sanity you should stop following the news. I know many people have distanced themselves from my anger and I honor and understand that choice. And finally, I understand I’ve have hurt people in my anger and fear and for that I’m very sorry.

But just to be clear, everything is NOT alright.
